I was asked to write down why I find it important to eat meat. And why I insist that it should be given to children.

I'll start with the well-known fact that red meat (beef, lamb, and pork) is the best source of protein. Moreover, this protein is of high quality, containing many essential amino acids.

Also in meat many vitamins of group B, E, potassium, zinc, copper, calcium, sulfur, selenium, magnesium, sodium, fluorine, tin, cobalt, potassium.

But we especially appreciate it for the fact that it contains two essential trace elements that exist in an easily digestible form: vitamin B12 and iron.

Vitamin B12 is very important for the formation of the nervous system, and its deficiency leads to numbness of the arms or legs, problems with movement, anemia, constant fatigue. The most striking manifestations are memory loss, paranoia, hallucinations.

Glandular deficiencya is anemia, one of the most common diseases. I saw figures somewhere that in a latent form it is up to 30 percent of the population of Europe and Russia. It is iron that is responsible for hemoglobin, that is, for the transport of oxygen inside the body. And with a lack of iron, oxygen starvation occurs, a decrease in cognitive functions, etc.

The problem is that taking these vitamins in pills is not the best solution. Capricious elements are poorly absorbed. And in red meat they are in perfect condition, in the most assimilable form.

There is another interesting fact. It is believed that the most iron is found in the liver of animals. But recent scientific research shows that there is still more in red meat: in 100 g, almost 64% of B12 of the daily requirement. And the record holder is the spleen, but for some reason I have not met lovers of cooked spleen.

However, eating meat three times a day or even every day is still a bit too much. Scientists lean towards three times a week.

Does meat have to be red? In principle, it can be replaced in 2 cases out of three with white, chicken, etc. But from the point of view of iron, perfectly red meat.

To be continued.
