I already wrote that vitamin D3 seems to be becoming one of the most popular and talked about vitamins, primarily because of its ability to improve immunity. (I will give a list of materials at the end)

There was even a vivid phrase that D3 is a silver bullet from the coronavirus.

My patients are constantly tested for D3 content, because in our country the deficiency of this vitamin is quite large. And it is not worth prescribing it without examination - what if you are the lucky one who, despite everything, is normal for this substance?

But in general, I think it is very important to control the level of this vitamin (although it is closer to hormones in its properties). And often, in order to raise D3 in the blood, you have to prescribe large enough doses.

Many doctors are wary of high doses, as it was believed that D3 promotes calcium deposition in peripheral arteries. However, a couple of months ago it was published study, which did not find confirmation of this.

For three years, scientists have given D3 to patients 55-70 years old in different dosages. One group received D3 400, the second 4000, the third 10,000 units per day.

A total of 311 patients participated in the study, the average age was 62 years, 54 percent were men.

The state of the tibial artery was assessed using computed tomography: before the start of the experiment, after 6, 12, 24 and 36 months.

It was documented that vitamin D3 supplementation did not affect the development or progression of arterial calcification.

During therapy, no new cases arose, and those 85 patients who entered the experiment with this diagnosis did not have any deterioration.
