In almost everything, the life of Georgians is similar to ours. We are, after all, neighboring peoples, and our mentality has a lot in common. However, in some small things we do differ. Moreover, it is impossible to find out about them without visiting Georgian life. I am far from Georgia, I have never been there, and I hardly ever get there, but I have many acquaintances from there. Of course, we all live in the modern world, and it is he who leaves an imprint on our life, but something remains unchanged even today.
So, in my list I have collected 5 of some of the features of our life that amaze Georgians. Of course, I repeat that they do not apply to all Georgians, because there are mixed families, especially in the modern world it is difficult to be different from everyone else. Among the Georgian peculiarities, strange for us, you can also find a lot. For example, they believe that there is nothing to sit at the dinner table if there is no bread on it. And they themselves come up with the registration number of the car, they call their father "mother", mother "grandfather" and grandfather "father". And girls, when they get married, usually leave their maiden name. And what is alien to Georgians in our everyday life?
These are our features, which are alien and incomprehensible to Georgians
Walking barefoot at home
For Georgians, it seems that everything below is dirty. And, despite the fact that the floors are in the house, they prefer to walk on them in slippers, or even in general, coming from the street, they may not change their shoes. But they consider walking barefoot at home to be something strange. By the way, many peoples also have the habit of walking at home in shoes. For example, in many American films you can see people in street shoes even lie on the sofa.
Frequent cleaning of floors
Why shouldn't we be barefoot at home if we polish the floors almost every day? And the Georgians are somehow calm about this. Not to say that they are unscrupulous, it's just such a feature. The most picky about cleanliness sweep floors or use a vacuum cleaner, but they start washing only in some emergency cases. What is the reason for this? I do not know. But it is also worth noting that in Georgia, for some reason, mops are very expensive.
Using the microwave
Even very wealthy and modern Georgians rarely have a microwave oven in their homes. Such an item is considered by them to be simply useless, and is not popular.
Checking the expiration date of products
All of us have long been accustomed to constantly checking the expiration date of products before purchasing them. Unscrupulous sellers have repeatedly sniffed out expired goods for the purpose of profit. Georgians don't have that. First, they purchase products in the markets, and can detect freshness by smell, sight and taste. Secondly, if the date is 2-3 days apart, they don't think it is so critical!
Storing food not in bags
In Georgia, people just love to pack everything in bags. If you came to the store and bought yourself one chocolate bar, you will definitely be offered a package at the checkout. Each product is packed there in a separate package. This is practiced in many countries, but we are somehow calm about it. Moreover, many refuse polyethylene for environmental reasons.
It seems nothing special, but I was very interested in this information. We are all different, with our own habits, customs and peculiarities of life. But all the same, we try to respect someone else's life, a country with its own foundations, and even do not mind adopting something.
