Foreigners are often surprised that we, people of the post-Soviet era, have special indoor shoes. Although, why are they surprised? If you watch foreign films, you can generally come into shock. They wander all over the city there, get caught in the rain, visit various establishments, and then return home and, without taking off their shoes, walk into the room, and even lie on the bed in it. That's what one should be surprised at! Everything is different with us. I came home from work, took off my street shoes, put on my favorite slippers, and went around the house. This is somehow more hygienic, agree? So today we'll talk about why wearing slippers at home and how to make them yourself!
Some wear socks at home, which, in principle, is also acceptable. And there are those who go barefoot. You know, I don't understand those. If you want the skin of your feet to be always tender, you should not allow prolonged walking on surfaces. And we don't clean every day. Those who constantly work sometimes have no time to do this, but dirt and dust accumulate, and all this is on the feet.
But there are other reasons why you should wear light slippers at home:
- Modern flooring is very hard. And the anatomy of our feet is such that we cannot cope with it. If you look at our ancestors, they often walked barefoot even on the ground. But the ground, even trampled down, is much softer than wood, tile, laminate and other surfaces. What's happening? There is an additional load on your feet!
- Almost everyone has cold floors at home, except if you have underfloor heating. Legs need to be kept warm, of course, you are unlikely to catch a cold from this, but due to constant contact with cold surfaces, there is a prolonged constriction of the vessels of the feet, and this has an extremely negative effect on immunity. That is why they say: "wear slippers, otherwise you will catch a cold."
- And about the foot fungus. If at least one family member has a fungus on their feet, then everyone should wear slippers!
Now let's talk about how to make slippers with your own hands.
I will warn you right away that you will need some devices that not everyone has. And the amount of material depends on how many pairs of shoes you want to make.
You will need:
- Thermal transfer paper;
- felt;
- sheet cork;
- hot glue (you can use super glue).
We make slippers:
The drawing must be transferred from thermal transfer to felt. Heat the iron to the highest temperature and iron the entire surface. You will see that the felt is starting to melt a little. If you use a low temperature, the drawing will be transferred only partially.
Cool the material, and cut out the desired top of the future slipper. Place the pattern on a piece of felt, machine stitch in, and cut out. This will make the tip stick much more tightly.
Next, you need to make a pattern for the insole. You can simply circle your foot or your favorite shoe insole. Circle the felt insole, sew on the top of the sock, and then just cut it out.
Glue the outside with hot glue or super glue the cork sheet. This will increase the durability of your slippers. The excess edges must be trimmed.
That's all! Your cute slippers are ready! You can make more of them, and offer them to friends who have come to visit you!
