After the holidays, there is a lot of cleaning ahead, and, among other things, it is not very pleasant to look at the dirty, shaggy carpet. And it's one thing to clean it from visible dirt, another thing to eliminate unpleasant odors. In particular, the topic of carpet cleaning is relevant for families with small children. Now there are many all kinds of cleaning products for various surfaces in stores, but I am always confused by the rich chemical composition of such cleaners. The price, of course, is sometimes unrealistic, and the result is not entirely impressive. So I had to look for home economical remedies that could deal well with both pollution and bad odor!
I want to tell you about how I deal with stains and unpleasant odors on pile carpets with the help of available tools. It should be noted that not all carpets tolerate wet cleaning well, so it is better to use dry. If you are going to clean the surface with a brush, then do not rub the stain over the entire surface, but make movements, as it were, towards the middle of the stain. And it is also worth brushing in the direction of the pile so as not to disturb the structure. Before cleaning, you should thoroughly vacuum the carpet to remove excess debris and dust.
Methods for cleaning lint carpet
Soda + salt
The simplest and most affordable helpers are soda and salt. They need to be mixed in equal proportions, poured onto the carpet, rub in a little, leave to act for 20 minutes, and then remove the remains with a vacuum cleaner. The product is very soft and effective at absorbing all the dirt, and will also rid the carpet of unpleasant odors.

Vinegar solution
If you're comfortable with the vinegar scent, here's another cleanser to try. You will need regular table vinegar, which is found in every kitchen. Even a weak solution will help to cope with various stains on the carpet. After vacuuming the carpet, you just need to walk over it with a soft brush dipped in a solution of vinegar. To be more precise, I will say that for 1 liter of water, I took about 20 ml of vinegar. If there are stubborn stains, you can moisten them harder. Leave the agent to act for 20 minutes, and then wipe with a dry cloth in the direction of the pile! And don't forget to ventilate the room!
Tea brewing
This cleaning method is suitable for dark colored surfaces. Do not experiment with light-colored rugs. So, as with the previous two cleaning methods, vacuum the carpet well. In advance, you need to brew the tea leaves, and squeeze it out well. It should be wet, but not soggy! You do not need to cover the entire carpet with tea leaves, just spread it over the spots. And after that, just leave the tea leaves to dry, and sweep it with a broom, or better, remove it with a vacuum cleaner. This will not only get rid of stains, but also foul odors.
It's that simple! Tried with my own hands, these tools work flawlessly. And most importantly, you do not have to spend a lot of money on the purchase of various chemicals that sometimes cannot cope with even simple stains. By the way, such products as vinegar solution and a mixture of soda and salt are well suited for cleaning children's clothes.
If you do not really like these tools, then, of course, you can connect heavy artillery, and use ammonia, gasoline, kerosene. But, as for me, these are too "fragrant" methods of cleaning. Starch also helps well, it must be used, like soda and salt. And, if you have men's shoulders nearby, then you can in the old fashioned way, immerse your favorite carpet on them, and go clean it in the snow!
