It often happens that you buy products that you are not satisfied with. That is why many cook everything at home on their own. If you bought a herring in the store that is too salty, I suggest you make a snack out of it that will be so delicious that you will cook it all the time.
No one will tell you when the first snacks appeared, because it happened a long time ago. Our ancestors loved to drink and eat, and therefore there are just a huge number of their recipes in the world. That is why, over time, a separate "chapter" of such dishes was formed. Today they are served before main courses, the purpose is to whet the appetite or remove a little hunger, and, of course, soften the effects of alcohol.
Self-catering appetizers were formed around the 18th century in Sweden, where the “sandwich table ", when cold snacks were served in a special room, and then the guests moved to the dining room to the main meal. The “sandwich table” should not be confused with the “Swedish” way of serving dishes.
Fun fact: Some believe that Copernicus was the inventor of the sandwich when he was the caretaker of the besieged castle. The scientist drew attention to the fact that it was often those who ate a lot of bread that were sick. The fact is that at that time, if bread fell to the ground, they saw nothing reprehensible in this. Therefore, Copernicus began to force to smear with butter. When he fell, the eater had to cut off the top layer of the bread.
In Russia, the word "snack" had a slightly different meaning, so they called breakfast. Our people always had breakfast in a hurry with what was left of dinner or something that was prepared in a hurry. Therefore, we included several other dishes as snacks. By the way, initially they used the preposition "for", that is, "bread for a snack ...", only then "on" and "to" came into use.
At the very beginning, the snack was usually served no earlier than two hours before lunch, then this time began to decrease. Today there are so many snacks that it is simply impossible to list them.
So, we are preparing a herring appetizer.
Important! For cooking, the herring is not needed fresh, but always lightly salted.
We clean the fish carcass and disassemble it into fillets, cut into convenient pieces.
Now you need to prepare the sauce. It consists of a mixture of kefir, mustard and sugar. It is kefir that is the ingredient that will take away the salty taste.
We take a container and put an onion, you can use it a lot, because it also turns out to be very tasty. The next layer is our herring, and fill everything with our kefir sauce. Then the next layer and so on, you can put milk and caviar there. Cover the container with foil and put it in the refrigerator for at least half a day.
For the sauce, we use products in the following quantities:
1. Kefir - half a liter.
2. Sugar - 2 tbsp. Spoons.
3. Mustard - 2 tbsp. spoons.
