Japanese scientists have found that prolonged sitting in front of TV may lead to pulmonary embolism.

Pulmonary embolism - a condition in which a blood clot from a vein arrives in the heart, and then enters into the pulmonary artery. If you plug the branch of the pulmonary artery, the blood will not enter the lungs and the body does not receive oxygen. From massive pulmonary embolism person usually dies.

The symptoms of thromboembolism may be different for different people

Usually this:

  • dyspnea;
  • chest pain (especially incomprehensible sharp pain when breathing deeply);
  • cough or coughing up blood;
  • palpitations;
  • dizziness or loss of consciousness.

Blood clots usually form in deep veins of the legs. For this to happen, one must some time be without movement. Thromboses occur after some surgical operations, against malignant tumors, blood diseases, pregnant women, people who fly long distances in economy class.

In 2015, the authors of the study did report to the Congress of the European Society of Cardiology. They said that the mention of pulmonary embolism after a long stay in a sitting position appeared during the Second World War. Then there were cases of thromboembolism in people in London who have spent a lot of time in bomb shelters.

Japanese scientists have watched 86,000 people aged 40 to 80 years. All of them took part in a large study that began in 1989 and lasted almost 20 years.

It turned out that people who watch TV more than five hours per day doubles the risk of death from pulmonary embolism, compared with those who watched TV less than two and a half hours. This is most clearly was evident in the group of people under the age of 60 years. There is the risk increased six-fold.

Researchers have determined that the prolonged stay in a sitting position is very similar to flights in Economy Class. Therefore, the need to step up the standard recommendation to disperse the blood in the legs:

  • take breaks;
  • get up;
  • walk;
  • drink plenty of fluids to prevent blood clots.

Personally, I now wondering - when viewing some programs produce more blood clots. It is clear that the less a person gets, the greater the chance. If the victim is less than 60 years, it is usually still quite mobile, and keep it in front of the TV can only be a fascinating story. Suddenly the Japanese are more susceptible?

Japanese researchers still worry about various other advanced technologies. In this area, they are ahead of the rest, so are already thinking about the phones, Web Surfing, and computer games. It may well be that some of these activities, too bad for the health.
