Named the greatest danger of artificial insemination

Men who conceived by artificial insemination, have less ability to fertility (fertility). To such conclusion the group of scientists led by Andre van Steyrteghema of the Free University of Brussels.

Researchers examined the number and activity of sperm in young adults, which have evolved of the egg (oocyte), fertilized thanks to the method of ICSI (intracytoplasmic injection sperm). During the procedure, the male sex cells are injected into the oocyte using a microneedle. This kind of in vitro fertilization is used in those cases where the quality of sperm has low (inactive cells, scarce or damaged).

It was found that many conceived using ICSI males aged 18-22 years in the analyzed samples the concentration of sex cells is half of normal. Sperm motility also decreased by 50 percent. Young people, on the doctors' estimates, three times more likely may suffer from oligozoospermia - insufficient for normal fertilization of sex cells.

Scientists explain these results by the fact that infertility fathers, often caused by mutations in genes can be inherited. The technology has no effect on fertility. According to the rules, the future parents have warned of such risks, but there is no cause for alarm, because their sons in the future may also resort to ICSI.
