Accidentally dozing, not even a moment, the driver is a threat to all road users. The causes of fatigue at the wheel of many: the night shift at work, stress, fatigue, lack of sleep, intake of certain medications.
As it turns out, there is another factor that affects the condition of the person - the perception of low vibration during long autotravel. It is important to take this into account during thepreparation for the long journey, in order to stock up on good music, take a reliable companion and select points on route segments where you can stop, stretch your legs, have a coffee and get away from the monotony of the way.
Researchers at RMIT University conducted a series of experiments in a project to study the problem of drowsiness at the wheel. Health data 15 drivers have been analyzed. Volunteers controlled car simulator, a device imitated the monotonous highway driving, and measuring the motor hum and machines. Special sensors fixed pulse and brain activity.
It turned out that those who are exposed to low-frequency vibrations (4-7 Hz), started to get tired and yawning after only 15-20 minutes. Half an hour later the level of drowsiness became even more, and an hour later the volunteers simply fall asleep. But those drivers who were subjected to vibrations in other frequencies were at times cheerful.
That is why, among of the most effective ways to ward off sleep are listening to your favorite music and conversation active (importantly, not a raised voice) with a fellow traveler.
