Lucky case: how a mother saved a child's life with one text message

A young American woman, Rebecca Tafaro Boyer, is commonly called an anxious mom in society. But in this story, Rebecca's hyper-custody saved her 3-month-old William from dying.

When Rebecca went to the office after the decree, she asked her husband to send her an SMS every hour - to tell what little William is doing, how he eats and sleeps. When her husband sent her another message along with a photo of the child, she immediately became worried. In the photo, the child was lying in the car seat, and my mother wrote to her husband that the lock was not properly fastened, and it should be at chest level. David obeyed and did as his wife asked. 15 minutes later, Rebecca received a photo broken car and the caption: "Honey, we had a car accident, but we're fine."

The car collided with another car, but thanks to a properly secured car seat, the child survived. Even more, the baby did not wake up from the blow. But David was less fortunate - he has a broken leg in three places, and dislocated fingers.

This cautionary story once again reminds careless parents that there must be a car seat in the car, and the rules of operation must be strictly adhered to. Recall the main ones:

1. It is not recommended to rush and transfer the baby to another chair facing movement. In an accident, this can aggravate spinal injury.
2. If the chair has a strap that secures the top of the chair, it must be used. So it "dangles" less.
3. The center rear seat is the safest place for a car seat - it provides the best protection against impact to the forehead or from the side.
4. When choosing a seat, give preference to a five-point seat belt over the standard three-point seat belt.
5. Everyone should fasten their seat belts in the car, especially those in the back. During an impact, an unfastened passenger can injure a child with his body.
6. Be sure to check the fasteners before driving. The belts should be on the baby's chest, just below the armpits, but not on the neck or abdomen.
