The American gave birth to the "oldest" child in the world. The biological age of a newborn girl is 27 years. The baby is only 1.5 years younger than her own mother

Modern technologies of artificial insemination are breaking records and boggling the imagination. At the end of 2020, a child was born in the United States, who was conceived in 1991. The embryo, with parental consent, was frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored for 27 years. After that, he was implanted to an infertile woman and successfully developed into a viable infant. American Tina Gibson at the time of IVF only turned 28 years old. It turns out that from a biological point of view, the daughter is almost the same age as her mother.

This event entered the Guinness Book of Records as the longest period of embryo freezing, which ended with the birth of a living child. It is interesting that Tina four years ago she gave birth to a girl in the same way, who had been frozen for 24 years. Baby Emma and Molly are sisters twice. The embryos were taken from the same parents and planted with the same mother.

Tina did not immediately decide on this step. For more than five years, she and her husband tried to conceive a baby, until, as a result of the examination, it turned out that the woman was infertile. Benjamin offered to adopt a child, and Tina looked away artificial insemination. However, the family did not have all the funds necessary for the procedure. Once on TV, Tina's parents saw a story about the possibility of implanting a frozen embryo in an infertile woman. This "crazy" experiment is offered to families by the National Embryo Donation Center (NEDC).

NEDC is an American Christian organization that helps infertile couples to undergo IVF on a charitable basis. Sometimes it happens that parents may refuse fertilization at the very last stages of the process. In this case, the embryo is given a chance for a second life. It is frozen in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of minus 396 degrees until there is a woman who wants to carry the child.

It is believed that the shelf life of embryos in liquid nitrogen is infinite, and they will be viable after any length of time. However, in practice, everything does not always go smoothly. More than 1000 infusions have been performed at NEDC frozen embryos, of which only half of the procedures ended in the birth of a healthy child. Tina's case is generally unique, because the technologies in 1991 were far from the current ones. Until the last moment, no one gave any guarantees on how Emma and Molly would develop after such a long freeze.

Nevertheless, the oldest girl is now 4 years old: she is quite an ordinary child, with good health and normal development. She adores her little sister and tries to help her mother take care of the baby. According to Tina Gibson, in her wildest dreams, she could not imagine herself as a mother of two children. Now she really likes to watch how the sisters grow up, and to notice they have similar facial features. More than anything, Tina is grateful to the story on television, which became a happy occasion for her and radically changed her life.
