How does a woman's face change after the birth of a baby? Is it true that a young mother becomes younger after childbirth? See the unique photo project "Becoming a Mother"
By what signs can you recognize a young mother on the street? A stroller, a child, a bunch of bags and a voluminous "mother" backpack behind? And if without a baby and without children's attributes, then? Figure, gait, or eye expression? A group of scientists from America has proven that with the birth of the first baby, a woman's consciousness changes radically. And this leaves an imprint of change on the face. The contours of the face of the young mother become softer, the corners of the lips slightly go down, and the eyebrows “rise” a little up, giving depth and concentration to the look. This phenomenon was noticed by a Lithuanian photographer Vaida Razmislaviche and displayed it in her author's photo project Becoming A Mother.
Vaida came up with the idea for the project after the birth of her first baby. Then, in the company of the same young mothers, she often began to hear that the child had become a burden for them in many ways. Because of the children, someone had to
quit work and stop career growth. Someone did not finish their studies. Someone had to move and change their way of life. For Waida, such confessions were a real revelation. During the first and then the second pregnancy, she herself continued her studies and even defended her master's degree. Vaida decided to show mothers that a child really changes lives. But not in the way they think. With the appearance of a baby, every woman becomes more beautiful, wiser, softer and at the same time stronger, and her look takes on a new, amazing light.

“In a way, this project helped me heal,” says the photographer. - Looking into the eyes of these women, I experienced the same as after the birth of my first child. All the hidden fears that I hid inside myself came back to disappear while working on the pictures. " Waida admits that at first she was scared with her first baby. After the birth of the child, she did not feel the proverbial maternal instinct, and was afraid to do something wrong. However, gradually Vaida decided to trust her intuition, and everything worked out by itself. In a short time, she felt wiser, stronger and more energetic than before.

For the project, Vaida chose a simple format for close-up portrait photography. She specifically asked her models to be photographed "like a passport" so that all attention was directed to the face. The main focus of the photographer is not on how the figure and appearance of a woman changes. after childbirth. Vaida wanted to show what changes are taking place in the gaze of a woman who recently became a mother. “After giving birth, a woman’s eyes change in an instant, they acquire depth, begin to reflect the knowledge available only to her,” the photographer shares his observations. “A woman learns to live as a whole, to hear the voice of her heart, to trust intuitive knowledge and maternal wisdom.”

In total, 33 women took part in Waida's project, and 36 children were born. “It was very interesting for me to see how they changed in just a few months between our shoots,” says the photographer. This is the main confirmation that the child turns the woman's inner world upside down, completely changes her worldview and sense of herself. “A woman learns to live as a single whole, to hear the voice of her heart, to trust intuitive knowledge and maternal wisdom,” explains Waida's phenomenon.
