How to move a child to your room: TOP-10 tips for parents

Everyone needs personal space - both parents and children. But how and when to move the baby to your room? About this in our material

When a child is born, it becomes a logical decision to place him in the parent's bedroom: it is more convenient for the mother to feed, and the child is calmer. But time passes, the child grows up, and there is a need to overpower him in his room. How to do it painlessly?

When to move the baby out?

According to many mothers, the ideal age is 2-3 years. The kid has mode, he sleeps all night, does not require snacks, and cohabitation in the same room with his parents has not yet dragged on.

"Sell" plan

Start telling your kid in advance how cool it is to be an adult and have your own room - colorful, lively, with a "wow effect." Ideally, take the child to your friends, where the children sleep separately. In the preparatory stage - 2-3 weeks, you can "play" the story on dolls. Let there be two baby dolls - a mother and a child. Both sleep in their beds - and that's okay.

First attempts

Do not make sudden movements - relocate in stages. First, put the child in the new room on daytime sleep. If conditions permit, sleep next to him. Gradually, make your daytime dreams independent, and then move on to night.

Sleep friend

Give your child a new medium-sized toy. Now this is my mother's deputy. Describe all his qualities and superpowers, explain that he is a defender, there is nothing to be afraid of with him - such a "subject of strength". This technique is called substitution, and old toys are not suitable for it. After all, they are already endowed with their own roles and functions.

New rituals

Rituals are often spoken of. Indeed, they really help the baby to stay calm. Children love to know that everything is going according to plan: from day to day we bathe, brush our teeth, read a book and go to bed. Standard repeatable actions.

Lighting

Many children are afraid of the dark, so they do not like to be alone in the room. Use star projectors or a salt lamp.

Ordinary lamps should not be turned on - when the light is on, the brain does not rest as it should.

Room arrangement

According to psychologists, the child will be more willing to move to his room if it is done accordingly. Try to organize everything in the nursery to suit your child's taste: a cool bed, play corners, creative areas, shelves for books and a place for toys. Important: Prepare the room from a security point of view. Check the wiring, fix all problem areas. Ideally, freshly renovated, with beautiful children's wallpaper. Some mothers say that the child is inspired by the choice of some object in his room, for example, bedding in a cartoon drawing.

Room escape

Little sly ones like to run around in their parents' room at night. But don't let it happen. It is worth taking the baby in your arms, soothing, stroking, together they will return to the nursery and be with him until he falls asleep.

NOT

  • Do not move the child out at the wrong time - illness, family conflicts, crisis
  • Do not use your tablet or TV to fall asleep
  • Take your time and don't be nervous. If a child asks you to hold the handle before going to bed, to sit until he falls asleep, try to fill his need.
