On April 1, a new National Health Service medical guarantee program went into effect. It expands the package of medical services that are provided free of charge. Among them - conducting pregnancy on an outpatient basis. In other words, if home health care is needed, it should be provided free of charge.
How pregnancy management services are free from April 1, 2021
- pregnancy monitoring (examinations, consultations, development of an individual pregnancy management plan);
- all necessary laboratory tests, analyzes, ultrasound;
- prevention to prevent complications of pregnancy, the postpartum period;
- referral of the pregnant woman to other doctors for special observation;
- inpatient treatment if necessary;
- classes at the School for Responsible Parenting with family members.

can independently choose any family doctor or gynecologist in the antenatal clinic who will monitor the pregnancy. The place of registration and residence does not matter. As before, you can also choose in which hospital to give birth. Without reference to the place of residence.For each pregnant woman, the NSZU will pay a doctor or medical facility 720 UAH per month. There is no need to pay any charitable contributions.
More than 700 institutions and doctors throughout the country are planning to sign an agreement on the new package. Including private ones. That is, a pregnant woman can receive free medical care in a private clinic if this medical institution has signed an agreement with the NHSU.
What services are free during childbirth
maternity hospital will receive from the NHSU payment for each delivery in the amount of UAH 8136. For the patient, this means free choice of the maternity hospital, regardless of the place of registration and actual residence. And also no charitable contributions or medicine bags. A woman in labor for childbirth only needs to take things for individual use for herself and the baby during her stay in the hospital.

The package of free medical services during childbirth includes:
- medical assistance during childbirth with an obstetric team on duty (management of uncomplicated physiological childbirth, management of complicated childbirth, cesarean section);
- stay in a standard ward;
- anesthesia of surgical interventions according to indications;
- monitoring the condition of a pregnant woman, a woman in labor and a newborn;
- intensive care of a woman in labor;
- stabilization of the condition of the newborn after childbirth and carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (if necessary);
- metabolic screening in newborns;
- vaccination of newborns, according to the Calendar of preventive vaccinations.
For the choice of a doctor, a ward of increased comfort and other additional services, you will need to pay to the cashier of a medical institution.
