Scientists have conducted a study to evaluate the effectiveness of hormone therapy.

Emergency contraception is represented by hormonal drugs and the installation of an intrauterine device with copper. And although the second method demonstrates higher efficiency rates (up to 99%), pregnancy cases are recorded.

That is why the search continues for a 100% way to avoid conception.

This time, American researchers decided to compare the effectiveness of the IUD with copper and hormonal means. Of the 638 women who attended clinics in Utah, half were prescribed a copper IUD and the other half were prescribed hormonal contraception with levonorgestrel, according to article, published in the profile journal The New England Journal of Medicine.

In the hormonal IUD group, pregnancy occurred in 1 woman, in the copper group, there were no pregnancies. We believe that both types of IUDs have approximately the same effectiveness.
Note that emergency contraception is designed to protect a woman from conception if she was unprotected sexual intercourse, violent acts or contraceptives that were used turned out to be ineffective.
