The mother of the Duchess of Cambridge knows how to prepare and spend the holidays so that the party will be pleasantly remembered by the guests, and the organizers after it do not end up in the hospital with a nervous breakdown.

Carol Middleton, Kate's mom, shares some helpful tips:

  • I start planning my preparations for Christmas shortly after Halloween. I'm a big fan of making lists and try to get everyone involved.
  • Carol Middleton recommends being an organized person and not taking on more responsibilities than necessary. After all, when the event organizer is under stress, everyone else is stressed too.

  • Don't get hung up on making everything perfect. It is often mistakes that make an event unforgettable.
  • For choosing a “last minute gift,” Carol loves Christmas markets. A few years ago, a friend gave Kate's mom some Christmas tree decorations, and every time she gets them she thinks of her.

  • Carol is very fond of wrap gifts - for this she uses only red or craft paper and ties large bows from ribbons. By the way, she does this while listening to Christmas songs.

  • My main things for Christmas are pies, mulled wine and mistletoe.
  • Carol Middleton loves to dress up a lot on Christmas day. Something like a red Goat dress, over which she wears a large apron when she cooks.

  • I try not to make a strict schedule for the holidays. Usually in the morning we go to church, then we go for a walk, then we open some gifts (we leave most of them for the evening). After that - champagne with smoked salmon for lunch, and the main Christmas dishes are left for the evening. But with my little grandchildren, maybe we can move the Christmas dinner over to lunchtime.
  • Carol says it is very important to write letters with gratitude. Ideally, within 10 days.
