What surprises Americans in Russian homes?
One trash can
Americans have 3 trash cans at home. One for organic waste, one for glass and plastic, and one for all paper. When guests from America find out that there is only one trash can in our homes, they are very surprised. Of course, this is our minus, because the garbage needs to be sorted, fighting to improve the environment in the country. Unfortunately, we cannot explain this to ours.
Ceiling light
Americans don't have chandeliers like in our apartments. But they have a lot of all kinds of table lamps, floor lamps, sconces. Of course, such lighting, as in America, allows you to create a pleasant atmosphere in the room in the evening, but sometimes you want it to be brighter. In addition, he turned off the chandelier with one click, and that's it, but until you turn off all the floor lamps, the whole dream will pass.
Curtains on windows
Americans live in full view, at least they have blinds on their windows. Sometimes there are curtains in the bedrooms, but this is only so that the sun does not interfere with sleep.
Washer
In America, washing machines are found only in very wealthy houses or in the private sector, which is located far from the center. And so they have special laundries in their homes. People come there, pay money, load the machine themselves, wait for everything to wash, then put the laundry in the dryer, because it is not customary for them to hang things on the balcony, they wait again. It's much easier with us, right?
Wallpaper on the walls
We choose the wallpaper, we strip off the old ones ourselves, we glue the new ones. And the Americans are more practical in this regard. They paint the walls in light shades, and then decorate with decorative putty. So the walls will not be peeled off by pets and children, and the dirt can be quickly washed off with a damp cloth.
Lack of children's bars on the windows
As soon as a small child appears in the American home, special bars are installed on the windows. This is required by law. We are very tight with this. There are so many incidents involving children falling out of the window! Americans are surprised at this parental carelessness. After all, if according to the law they are not ordered to do this, you can think about the safety of your children yourself. By the way, this window is very easy to clean, the grating is simply snapped off and lowered down.
Shower
I wrote about the uncomfortable American shower. So the people of America are amazed by our showers. They find it very convenient to take the nozzle in their hand and direct the flow of water in the desired direction. In America, you can do this too, but it will cost a lot.
The habit of taking off your shoes
In America, the street is considered a favorable environment, so people do not take off their shoes when they go home, and even in shoes they can lie on the bed. This is some kind of unsanitary conditions, the Russian streets are very dirty, so it is better to change your shoes in slippers.
Sink
Americans are surprised at the very small sinks in our kitchens. Yes, in this they are more practical than us. In their sinks, you can peel vegetables, wash a ton of dishes and even bathe your baby!
