How to develop a child's creativity

Creativity is almost the last advantage humans have over artificial intelligence.

In the modern world, creativity has evolved from talent into a practically required skill. A lot of things have been invented and tried by humanity - then you need a creative application of what already exists, or the search for new non-standard solutions.

Creativity can be either an innate skill - like drawing - or an acquired skill. In any case, the task of parents is to reveal and stimulate this quality.

How to develop creativity in a child?

1. Don't limit your fantasy

All children are dreamers by nature. And almost everyone is faced with constant restrictions on the expression of their fantasy: “don't be silly”, “what have you invented”, “you can't paint the sea in yellow, it's only blue”, etc.

And it is adults who create these barriers: they limit the child's fantasy, put him in a rigid framework of reality, not allowing him to prove himself an inventor, not stimulating the development of imagination.

2. Talk about fantasies

Children sorely lack the attention of adults to the fruits of their imaginations. Parents are reluctant to discuss children's fantasies, are little interested in them. However, lively, interested communication shows the child that you accept his way of thinking, give him a "right to exist."

And, of course, share fantasies from your own childhood, show that your imagination is not solidified under the onslaught of reality.

3. Encourage creativity

Of course, "creating" pictures on the wallpaper is superfluous, but to encourage and support the child's desire to draw, dance, sing, acting, sewing, etc. - almost certainly.

At the same time, we note that forcing a child to engage in that kind of creativity to which he does not have a soul is definitely not worth it. Chemical experiments can also be creative - if you approach this issue correctly and safely.

4. Read together

Let's make a reservation right away that modern children are not drawn to books if adults do not do the same. So if you want your child to read, you need a personal example.

So, the child should be surrounded by books - both age-appropriate and "for growth." First you read together, then he learns to do it on his own and plunges into new unknown worlds, the most interesting stories - this greatly develops his knowledge of the world around him, human psychology, relationships, natural phenomena and life.

And the more a person knows, the easier it is for him to create something completely new on this foundation.

5. Combat fear and embarrassment together

One could say that the child must fight these qualities, but here again one cannot do without a personal example. If at least one of the parents is withdrawn, fearful, unsure of himself, the child will become in the same "protective" position in relation to the world around him.

Therefore, it is worth working on your own self-esteem and self-confidence in order to show the child that taking the first step in any business and undertaking is alarming, but possible. To show your position, to express an opinion, to make a mistake is also completely normal and natural.

The less you set limits and restrictions for yourself - the wider your possibilities are, the more interesting and exciting life is, the broader your horizons and the more open your mind is to everything new.

6. Train your memory

Rhymes and songs will help great in this. The child can not only memorize them, but also create their own. To do this, you need some vocabulary, a parental example (at least an elementary one) and an acquaintance with what poetry is in general and how they are constructed.

7. Minimize gadgets

Cartoons and entertainment videos do not stimulate a child's imagination - they come up with everything for him. You should not completely abandon them either - but it will not be useful to fill children's free time by watching a video.

8. Remove some of the toys

In almost every house where there is a child, there are also tons of toys - half of which the child does not even remember, there are so many of them. Try the method of alternating toys so that there are about 10 toys in front of the child on an ongoing basis (experts advise leaving 4 - but which parent will go for it?).

The fewer toys, the more boring the child is, the more actively the brain works to come up with a new activity with the available material. An abundance of toys does not develop a child. As laziness drives progress, boredom drives creativity.
