Many people start their day with coffee. How does a traditional morning drink affect cholesterol levels?

Cardiologist Dennis Brumaire explained how coffee and cholesterol in a publication for the Cleveland Clinic online edition.

According to the specialist, there is no cholesterol in coffee beans, but in some of its varieties - espresso, Turkish coffee, coffee from a French press - the amount of bad cholesterol can exceed the norm. Bad cholesterol is deposited on the walls of the arteries, blocking the flow of blood and oxygen to the heart.

However, Brumaire urges coffee drinkers not to give up their habit, since the effect on blood cholesterol levels is extremely small.
The amount of cholesterol that is harmful to us is even genetically determined. We exacerbate the situation with improper nutrition, so refusing coffee will definitely not bring the desired effect.

The doctor noted that a drink with a huge amount of sugar, whipped cream and sweets has a negative effect on the body.
