Did you know that the mortal danger man could face even an ordinary aspirin? If you suddenly find that you have an allergy to it. Then it can happen anything until angioedema. And what is it? Let's investigate.

When urgently need an ambulance

The first symptom of angioedema (and most obvious, of course) - swelling of the face, head and neck, hands later, and then another, and legs.

Such swelling (if by itself) not too scary for the victim. Much more dangerous than its ability to block the way of breathing, causing a functional failure of the brain and / or internal organs. And so to peritonitis!

Signs threatening edema

Thus, allergic swelling (angioedema), life-threatening, if:

- the patient's breathing is difficult, have already appeared wheezing;

- there is a feeling of tightness in the throat;

- swollen tongue (most notably), lips, cheeks;

- quickens the heartbeat;

- has dizziness;

- is especially severe headache;

- suddenly there is intolerance to sound / light;

- turbid consciousness (up to its possible loss).

Guard must also if swelling is small, but the patient had previously allergic reaction in t h dangerous.

If in addition to the swollen tissue is observed only one of these symptoms - it is an occasion, not wasting any time, call the ambulance. Not to mention a few! Remember: the patient in such a state is by literally minutes.

A bit of angioedema

Today, many of the familiar allergy. So reacts violently the immune system of the body to a particular external stimulus - the same allergen.

Response to the threat produced by substances capable of binding the stimulus appeared, and then withdraw it from the body - histamines and prostaglandins. However, these compounds do permeable walls of blood vessels (especially capillary).

The lymphatic fluid from the damaged capillaries goes directly into the tissue. It is because of this allergic reaction is almost always accompanied by edema.

What protective histamines / prostaglandin "throw" the body, depends on how the "set" the immune system of the individual. If she reacts, "shock", could trigger a massive release of lymph - ie lead to angioedema edema or, in other words, angioedema (the name given to the phenomenon the name of the doctor who first described the fault even in 1882 g).

complications

For angioedema is a complication of anaphylactic shock, leading to hypoxia, as well as a sharp fall in AD. Such a state is fraught with no less - lethal! Moreover, within just a few hours or even minutes after interaction of human allergen.

Why there is angioedema?

The answer to this question can not always give even experienced physicians. Decided to allocate four types of such edema:

1. Allergic (the most common)Associated with the individual reaction to:

- products, food;

- plant pollen;

- the book and the usual dust;

- wool / fluff animals, birds;

- dandruff

- insect bites and other venomous bites;

- latex;

- the toxins contained in the air / water / household chemicals;

- low / high temperature (environmental).

2. medical

Talking about allergies to any medications. And most of angioedema - a reaction to:

- inhibitors of ATP;

- painkillers, as well as anti-inflammatory drugs;

- penicillin.

3. Hereditary

It happens that the tendency for such edema is a feature inherited.

4. idiopathic

These are cases of "unreasonable" angioedema when their cause is simply not possible to establish. The most dangerous type of edema, because it is impossible to predict when, and most importantly, what to react / reacted to the immune system.

How to treat?

If an allergic reaction is severe (and its symptoms listed above), you should immediately call an ambulance. And while it goes:

- to eliminate contact with the allergen, if known (where possible);

- lay people comfortably (on the back side), lifting the legs;

- facilitate breathing: unbutton the buttons, belt, remove the tie;

- in the presence of adrenaline autoinjector, immediately put the drug into the outer part of the thigh;

- if the patient is not breathing / he has no heartbeat, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation: a lawsuit breathing, chest compressions.

You can also try to reduce the swelling, giving the victim an antihistamine (only after consultation with your doctor, even on the phone!). Reduce swelling and help compress with cold water: it is necessary to impose on the region otokshuyu wet towel.
